The Level 4 Sports Coach apprenticeship is approximately 24 months in duration (18 months training and 6 months EPA) and is aimed at any advanced coach working in a school sport, community sport or high performance sport environment. The standard will support coaches to use extensive technical and tactical sports knowledge and skills to design and deliver coaching programmes that engage, motivate and evolve participants’ skills and performance. Learners will be supported to improve all areas of their coaching practice, including; developing their own coaching philosophy, designing and implementing effective coaching programmes, promoting holistic wellbeing within coaching programmes and creating positive environments to facilitate learning and skill acquisition.
We offer this apprenticeship standard in the three pathways, each including additional knowledge, skills and behaviours specific to the different environments; School Sport Coaches, Community Sport Coaches and High Performance Sport Coaches.
This is an advanced coaching apprenticeship and interested candidates must be in a leadership role where they are responsible and have influence over other less senior coaches. As a minimum we would expect candidates applying for this to have numerous years independent coaching experience and to hold relevant coaching qualifications (level 2 minimum). All the above criteria must be met to be considered for the apprenticeship. Note - it is not necessarily a suitable pathway to progress from a BTEC level 3 sport qualification to the L4 Sports Coach apprenticeship
Delivery Outline:
Training is delivered by our team of qualified tutors at your workplace or another suitable venue. Learners are supported to achieve the Sports Coach apprenticeship criteria via the use of support resources and optional e-learning modules.
If required, learners will also be supported by their tutor to gain Level 1 or 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.
