Last year, we worked in conjunction with Basketball England to transition the Level 2 Coaching Course online through delivery of virtual classroom sessions. As part of this process, the aim was to organise practical face to face sessions to support technical/tactical delivery and learning.

Unfortunately with the Government restrictions over the last 9 months, practical sessions have been problematic to organise. As a result of this, virtual technical and tactical sessions have been developed based on Basketball England’s Player Development Framework, focusing on the Moments of the Game.

Earlier this month, we delivered these sessions to our first cohort. Experienced Basketball England tutor and Coach Developer Sam Messam shared the following:

"Moving from the traditional face-to-face delivery to a synchronous mode of online learning is not revolutionary, however, the passion, enthusiasm and investment displayed by the first cohort of coach learners, as they engaged in Basketball England's Player Development Framework, has been impressive. In short, the eight hours of facilitated dialogue, discussion and conversation enabled us to unpack the key concepts and associated literature contained within the PDF and begin to explore how we apply the thinking to our practice. Hosting the workshop series online enabled Basketball England and Sport Structures to invite a wide range of learners from a geographically diverse pool of developing coaches, which lent weight to the richness of the debate."

Over the next few weeks, we will be delivering further technical and tactical sessions to aspiring level 2 coaches to support their knowledge and understanding as they prepare for assessment in their club environment.
