Summary
We supported the interpretation of local, regional and national data to support the development of the local authority’s strategy.
Approach
We worked with West Lindsey District Council in the development of their Sport and Active Recreation Strategy. The development of the strategy involved three key stages beginning with desk research to ensure the strategy acknowledged current District plans and was aligned to county strategies and the delivery system for sport. This was followed by in depth consultation through a series of public meetings and focus groups and the final stage concluded with consolidating the research to form the final strategy.
The desk research was to ensure the strategy acknowledged current District plans and was aligned to the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership sports development strategy and the delivery system for sport. The consultation stage with key partners took the form of two public meetings, two focus groups and ongoing discussions with council staff. The final stage involved consolidating all of the collated information to shape the final strategy.
Outcome
The district council was left with a realistic and manageable strategy that was implemented with the limited resources that the local authority has.
