To successfully achieve the 1st4Sport Level 3 Award for Tutors and Assessors in Sport, learners are required to generate evidence against the tasks identified below. Templates for each of these tasks are provided in the combined assessment tools for sport pathway document. - Task 1: Complete the Educational Philosophy in Sport task via the template provided
- Task 2: Plan a minimum of two 30 minute tutoring activities on a relevant sport qualification / programmes of study. You will be required to use two session plans and any additional learning resources produced. Please use the Teaching Session Plan Template.
- Task 3: Conduct two 30 minute tutoring activities on relevant sport qualifications/programmes of study, observed by an experienced tutor/trainer. You will need to submit evidence using the Mentor Observation template (one for each session) including feedback and action plan by an experienced tutor/trainer, confirming successful delivery of the sessions.
- Task 4: Complete a reflective log of your journey as a trainee tutor, this should identify strengths and areas for improvement. Please use the Tutor Journal to record this.
- Task 5: plan assessments for four learners; portfolios and practical demonstrations (with questioning), for a relevant sports qualification/programme of study. You should use the Assessment Schedule template for four learners.
- Task 6: conduct assessment of four learner portfolios, on relevant sports qualification/programmes of study. Learners are required to submit two assessed portfolios (with annotation, feedback and signatures). Only two of the four learner portfolios need to be submitted as evidence. You may use the Standardisation of Assessment Activity templates.
- Task 7: conduct assessment of four learner demonstrations, on a relevant sports qualification/programme of study, using observation and questioning as assessment methods. These assessments should be observed and countersigned confirming valid assessment practice by a relevant and experienced assessor. Learners are required to submit only two examples of assessment paperwork for demonstrations (observation and questioning). This should be from the same two learners as task 6. In addition, there is a requirement to submit mentor observation paperwork of all four learners from an experienced assessor.
- Task 8: Complete a reflective log of journey as a trainee assessor; identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Please use the Assessor Journal template.
- Task 9: Develop a personal development plan for tutoring and assessing using the Personal Development Plan template.
Assessment is graded on a pass/refer basis. Learners must produce evidence against each task and achieve the required level of attainment as shown in the table above prior to successful achievement of the qualification being confirmed. Learners have two reassessment opportunities, which must be completed within their three-year period of registration.
