We work in partnership with England Korfball to support the coordination of the Introduction to Coaching Korfball Award. 

Course description

The Introduction to Coaching Korfball course aims to develop an individual’s knowledge and skills to deliver fun, safe and engaging Korfball activities, supporting a more qualified coach. This course replaces the previous England Korfball Level 1 Award.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for:

  • Parent helpers
  • Aspiring coaches
  • Young leaders
  • Qualified coaches in other sports

It may also be suitable for Teaching Assistants or Teachers along with ex-players who have no coaching experience.

What’s the value of this course?

This course could lead to paid or voluntary roles in coaching Korfball in a variety of settings.

Learner eligibility

Learners must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing)

Course Format 

This course is split into two parts:

  • E-learning consisting of bitesize modules (maximum of 1.5 hours in duration)
  • A face to face practical session with an England Korfball tutor at a local venue (3 hours in duration) 

Individuals will be required to complete all elements in order to receive their certificate. Individuals are usually given 2 weeks after the face to face session to complete their e-Learning. Additional time can be requested under mitigating / special circumstances.

Assessment

There is no formal assessment. Progress will be monitored throughout the course.

Progression opportunities

Learners may wish to progress to the 1st4Sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Korfball qualification.

What facilities do I need to deliver a course?

A sports hall is needed with a minimum of 2 Korfball posts. If you do not have access to Korfball posts, we will attempt to source these from a local Korfball association / club. There may be an additional charge for hire and transportation of these.

How many learners do I need to run a course?

The minimum number of learners to deliver a course is 8. With one tutor, learner numbers should not exceed 20.

What are the fees for hosting a course?

The cost for hosting a course is £60 per person. Fees include tutor fees, mileage*, administration and access to e-learning.
*Up to a 200 mile round trip. Course organisers will be asked to pay additional mileage if travel exceeds a 200 mile round trip at 30 pence per mile.
